Lakai, Fully Flared intro

This is a skateboarding video that uses great skills, explosions and slow motion. The slow motion makes the movements appear graceful and even people like me that don't skate can appreciate the sport. The music is perfect for the video, it is dramatic but almost the same speed as the slowed down movements. The lack of ambient noise allows for the music to take control which contributes to the surreal and dramatic feel to the film. There are many interesting camera angles that are playful with the focus. There are lots of things going on in each shot but the speed allows you to take them all in. These two aspects involve you as the audience as though you are watching from within the skate park.
The video was shown to me by a friend who skates. I found it really interesting and inspiring to see what can be achieved with a higher budget and being made professionally. Most videos of this
kind, of niche sports are made by amateurs with lack of funding and interest. However this film was directed by Ty Evans, Spike Jonz and Cory Weincheque made by Lakai a skateing shoe company and is admired by those not even involved in the sport. The film is now 2 years old but I have only recently come across it.
